Graphic Designer Los Angeles County Museum of ArtLos Angeles, California, US
Reporting to the Director of Graphic Design, the Graphic Designer contributes to the design and layout for various print, exhibition, motion and digital (web, mobile and social media) projects within the Museum. With the creative guidance of the Art Director and Creative Consultant, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for taking those designs from concept to the finished project.
Some duties include: conceives and executes a range of design projects with the guidance from the Art Director—including environmental, digital, motion, and print—that support the activities of the museum; demonstrates strong self-motivation and initiative, as well as, the ability to take direction and work independently on multiple projects; thinks strategically, envisions design concepts, and executes direction; participates in planning meetings with the Graphic Design department and other museum colleagues; develops several potential design directions for initial presentation and explains the design concept and process to colleagues; guides the design process to find the best and most practical solutions on schedule and within budget; assists with the development of specifications for vendors; shares work with colleagues and reports appropriately on progress using project management software; supports the work of other Graphic Designers, as needed; performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
The qualified candidate will have a BFA in Design with 3-5 years experience working in a design studio, ad agency or similar setting. A professional level of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including After Effects) and a working familiarity with preparing design files for digital media and the web is required. Previous experience in the following areas is preferred: 2D and 3D environmental graphic design, digital and motion design, printing and fabrication of materials.
