Interactive Art Director
Styles, trends, and design genres are as fickle as drop shadows and gradients: one year they're in,
the next, they're out. Producing classic design that's beautiful, actionable, and genre shattering is the mark
of a true designer.
The Art Director combines the skillsets of user experience with that of the meticulous graphic designer and
interactive experience designer.
You'll produce inspirational art direction documents, craft wireframes with a design eye, create prototypes,
design interfaces, applications, and editorial experiences that evolve our creative identity as an organization
and advance the stylistic integrity of our partners.
A vivid portfolio with a refined and accomplished sense of personal style.
A taste for fine typography, and the skills to use it effectively.
A meticulous sense of detail and refinement in your designs.
Confidence to present, discuss, debate, and recommend design solutions.
Design navigation and interaction models for large transactional, product driven, and editorially leaning
web and mobile experiences.
Write the UI as much design it.
Create low and high fidelity wireframes in OmniGraffle, InDesign, or Photoshop, and present them in interactive prototypes using a tool like InVision (our preferred method).
Create experience documentation that will allow all teams to fully understand and execute your designs.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of responsive design methodology and beautiful design to show
Bachelor's degree in a design-related field, such as Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or Human Factors, or relevant industry experience.
5+ years of industry experience.
An online portfolio of exceptional work.
Enthusiastic, imaginative demeanor with the ability to translate complex business and strategic recommendations into simple, elegant design.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate your ideas with teammates, engineers, product managers, art directors, studio leadership, and clients.
Have had a client-facing role on multi-faceted, long-term projects.
Have guided junior, mid-level, and peer designers in their work, and enjoy growing their skillsets, and keeping a design process on track with many moving minds, and creative approaches.
Prior experience working in a start-up environment, or as part of an in-house team preferred.
An understanding of modern front-end development practices.
Hybrids thrive in our environment (and create the best experiences). This is as much a UX position as it is a design position, and can be informed by technology as much as you like, based on your experience.
A Hundred Years
Just outside of the scope of a lifetime, a hundred years is something we can all wrap our heads around
but is still aspirational and beyond our grasp. It inspires us to rise to the occasion, to take action
and accelerate change in the world for the future to thrive. For us, the 100-year filter is a litmus test
for what really matters.
We are a dedicated team of strategists, designers, researchers, technologists, educators, entrepreneurs,
foodies, producers, artists, futurists and visionaries collaborating from end to end, discovery to delivery.
Our approach is nimble, our culture is transparent and fluid and clients become a member of the 100yrs family.
We design, build and launch digital experiences for partners like TED, ONE.org, The Smithsonian, NASA,
XPrize, UCLA Health and the World Science Festival. We all gather in a converted warehouse space in
Downtown LA's Arts District (with a 1966 Airstream Trailer that serves as the in-office conference room!)
and would love for you to join us here.
Submit resume and cover letter. In your application please also share a recent project story, or relevant
