HISTORY Salal was founded in Seattle as a not-for-profit financial institution by Group Health doctors
in 1948 and was originally named Group Health Credit Union.
Our company is growing, and our small creative team has a lot of work to do.
As our new Graphic Designer, you’ll be helping us roll out and implement our new brand, which we proudly created in-house and launched last year. You’ll update collateral, develop new communication tools, and help shape member touchpoints using a mix of traditional and digital design skills, including motion graphics.
Our team is responsible for solving complex problems for our coworkers and members.
We need a designer who understands human-centered design, who is as passionate about execution
as they are about strategy, and who isn’t afraid to pitch in wherever needed.
Beyond basic benefits:
Credit union culture is big on work-life balance with reasonable work weeks and flexible scheduling.
Working here, you’ll enjoy bank holidays, vacation and sick pay, comprehensive medical benefits, and an employer-matched 401k with easy access to the expertise of our in-house financial advisors.
Your hard work will be recognized and rewarded with bonus pay-outs.
Room to grow:
We set aside time to learn new skills and develop professionally. Through our tuition reimbursement program, you’ll have access to both online and in-person training.
No one goes it alone.
Everyone on our team is a subject matter expert in what they do.
We respect each other’s expertise and understand that we all bring unique skills and personality traits to the table.
We offer a supportive environment where creativity is encouraged.
We’d like you to have a strong foundation in:
- typographic skills
- color theory
- style guides; how to follow one, and how to create one
- 2D motion graphics, not necessarily in animation
- traditional print design
You will be expected to be comfortable working with:
- mac OR pc (you’ll likely use both at some point)
- complex forms and applications
- multifaceted marketing campaigns
- industry-related advertising regulations and requirements
- internal clients with varying degrees of knowledge about design and marketing strategy
Programs you should know how to use:
- After Effects
We also use:
- Simplycast (this program is optional, but you should be familiar with designing for email marketing)
In your application materials please include a cover letter, your contact information and a link to your portfolio.
