Graphic Designer WarmNewark on Trent, England, GB
We’re Warm. A petite (we’re small), hard-working (we’re busy), down-to-earth (no big egos), ‘brand-first’ graphic design studio, with a cracking portfolio to boot.
Typically, day-to-day studio work involves branding, campaign concept development, a hefty helping of design for print, a chunk of social ads / assets, a wee bit of packaging, a dollop or two of on and offline advertising, and a smidge of email marketing.
We’re opening a brand new studio in Newark on Trent, Notts (don’t panic! it’s only 20 mins by train from Nottingham / 15 from Lincoln), and we’re looking for one or two talented Graphic Designers to help us to service existing accounts, and support future development.
We work in a few different sectors, but the last couple of years have seen us focus on food and leisure – an area that brings fantastic opportunities for genuinely creative, playful design work. We’re also enjoying doing more packaging in the FMCG sector, and that’s something we see developing further.
By working here, you’ll have all the freedom and potential of a ‘brand new studio’, with the security of an established client-base. You’ll have the opportunity to really put your stamp on the company and play a key role moving forward. You’ll be busy, but you’ll enjoy and appreciate working in a relaxed and informal environment. You’ll be eager and excited to help Warm develop.
Maybe you’re a Junior, perhaps you’ve a few years under your belt – you could be highly experienced and bored to tears. Years served are not as important as skills, portfolio, attitude and personality.
Whatever stage of your career you’re at, to be successful, you’ll need a strong portfolio that demonstrates high quality output across some or all of the the areas listed above. Your work will be a mix of fantastically executed graphic design, and conceptual creative thinking. Ideas are king, but stylish and imaginative execution comes a close second. If you’ve been wedged in a corner working on super-corporate, dull as dishwater stuff, we’d expect you to have done some freelance or self-initiated work to keep those creative juices flowing. We’re big believers that a talented Designer can do great work for just about any client – large or small.
These things are a must:
- Exceptional working knowledge of Indesign / Illustrator / Photoshop
- The ability to manage multiple projects, be efficient and relatively organised (for a Designer!)
- Great typography and attention to detail
- The ability to be creative even with smaller budgets
- A strong work ethic, and a positive ‘can do’ attitude
- An outgoing personality, and cracking communication skills
- A genuine interest in design, technological and cultural trend
- No office dog related allergies
These are not essential, but would mean extra brownie points:
- Packaging experience
- Animation (Flash / After Effects etc.)
- Web / App design
- Illustration skills.
