WEB/GRAPHIC DESIGN ASSOCIATE
Young People’s Theatre (YPT), celebrating its 50th Anniversary Season in 2015/16, is Canada’s largest theatre for young audiences. It currently produces and presents a 9-play season with an audience of approximately 70,000. Housed in a renovated, historical venue in downtown Toronto, YPT works on a 468-seat Mainstage and a 115-seat Studio stage as well as operating a year-round Drama School. YPT is currently searching for a candidate to fill the full-time position of Web/Graphic Design Associate. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Web/Graphic Design Associate will be experienced in both print media and website design and possess inherent creative and artistic ability. Working alongside YPT’s design agency of record, this position is responsible for creating visually-compelling print and electronic marketing collateral and fully maintaining YPT’s website, adhering to the company’s brand identity.
Design and prepare layouts for a variety of print and web-based projects including advertisements, web banners, microsites, brochures, posters, postcards, guides, programs, e-flyers, etc.
Develop and maintain intuitive, user-friendly and technically efficient web pages
Update website content and structure, and enhance user interface
Produce forms and related web pages in support of YPT’s advertising and promotional initiatives, web-based interactive communications, and other areas
Troubleshoot website operation, track site usage statistics and monitor performance
Research emerging technologies and services that may enhance the website experience
Create e-flyers and e-blasts, working with an email marketing distribution company such as ContantContact or MailChimp
Experience with Sass, LESS framework and HTML5 Boilerplate preferred
Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
Firm grasp of SEO best practices; custom themeing in WordPress also required
Video editing and compositing would be an assetEducation & Experience:Graduate in post secondary computer science or a related field such as visual, digital or graphic arts from an accredited college or university preferred. Minimum two years professional experience in graphic design, digital arts and web design/maintenance preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of full degree/diploma requirements.
