Our mission at Simple is to radically redesign the consumer banking experience with a focus on beautiful interfaces, transparent policies, modern technology, and extraordinary customer service.
You will be joining the Product Design team within the Creative discipline at Simple. You will work daily
with the other members of our team, the Creative Director, and the larger Product organization.
In this capacity, you will be the Lead Designer of a “product team”: a collection of engineers, designers,
user researchers, data scientists, product managers, and team leaders (that’s you).
Product Designers at Simple are tasked with taking in and understanding the “who”, “what”, and “when” of a
project and providing the “how”. By knowing the product well, advocating strongly for the customer alongside
our User Researchers, and understanding the needs of engineers we craft hypotheses and solutions.
We stay with an idea from the earliest planning to the shipping of the feature.
We’re not only designing the visual experience, but making key decisions about how our product functions
to best serve our customers.
Creative at Simple is a multidisciplinary group of makers, focused on bringing beauty to every aspect of Simple. We help shape the full range of experiences: from the apps and brand, to the office we work in.
Your product team will be the Primary Bank team, tasked with building the core, expected pieces of a bank
in an unexpected and delightful way. The team also works to display a customer’s financial history and data in
beautiful, meaningful ways that surface both the stories of their life and the health of their finances.
Shared accounts, search, reports, activity feed, payments, and more.
Bring a passion for building rich experiences and interest in data visualization, but no experience in banking
You are a passionate user and designer of modern applications. You stay up-to-date with the latest design best practices on various platforms (a focus on web or mobile is a-ok).
You have opinions about product design, yet keep an open mind and rely heavily on discussions with your peers.

Your abilities go beyond just creating beautiful interfaces — you excel at critical thinking and enjoy the strategic,
thoughtful side of design. You can’t help but think of ways to enhance or improve the products you use and can
articulate your solution clearly and holistically.
While we do work primarily in the digital, a wide range of interests (e.g. printmaking, photography, music) is a plus. We love producing real world artifacts like our card packaging and customer postcards, and hope you can share in that passion.
Provide a strong, human-centric design opinion on your team.
Lead group sketching and ideation sessions on your product team — selecting and refining concepts that
surface from the team.
Build and refine prototypes to demonstrate your concepts to the group and prospective customers.
Author brief design documents that articulate your decisions and process to create a shared understanding
of your recommended solution.
Partner strongly with the engineers to understand their needs and how they influence the design
from concept to launch.
Work closely with User Research to understand the needs and issues of our customers.
Mobile app design experience for iOS and Android platforms.
Ability to design products to be functional, elegant and easy to use.
Thoughtful and clear communication of ideas, recommendations, and opinions.
Experience with Sketch and Invision. Extra-credit for: Principle, Origami, Framer, and other prototyping tools.
Experience with or knowledge of design systems, pattern libraries, or other system of ensuring design
A portfolio that shows off your recent digital product design work. Seeing a range of sketches, comps,
and final designs is a big plus.
