We bring journalistic rigour to content strategy, storytelling and custom publishing in print and pixels.
At Totem, our creative team plays an important role in creating strong identities and editorial experiences
across the media landscape.
You don’t just say you love what you do, your portfolio proves it. You love solving complex communication, thoughts, and ideas through simple, contemporary creative. You have the ability to think strategically, conceptually and to execute flawlessly. You’ve read our take on the world and it either makes sense to you, or you want to ask us a lot more about it.
Alongside your creative flair and curiosity, you also know how to handle production with efficiency. You know when it’s time for creative exploration, and when it’s time to QC those files and hand them off. You balance thinking outside the box with handling technical limitations creatively. You have an eye on great photographers and illustrators, and know how to source great art with limited budgets and timelines.
As a key member of a small, disciplined art team, you’ll work with a growing roster of major companies and brands. Totem offers a competitive salary and benefits package in an environment that fosters creativity, collaboration, self-initiation and leadership in every corner and on every level.
Well-rounded portfolio covering identity, editorial and the sweet spot where they blend. Extensive print experience is a must.
At least 2–3 years of relevant, professional experience, including real-world magazine experience.
A strong knowledge of common office slideware and software and fluency in professional, creative applications. Of course, expert-level skills in InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop are expected.
Good working knowledge of HTML and CSS, at least enough to dive in and fix funky layout issues that the full stack folks just aren’t caring about like you are.
You’ll need to:
Create designs for print magazines and digital properties based on existing styles and provided templates.
Prepare files to flawless, print-ready state.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring ideas to life with consistent aesthetic across platforms.
Undertake creative research for all sorts of imagery, seeking out new contributors and collaborating in maintaining our roster of photographers and illustrators.
Participate actively in the company’s design research and conversation, with an eye on activity in the outside world.
Participate in the design of new projects from idea phase to final execution.
Interested candidates are invited to send their application and portfolio to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org
